giardino fotografico

“See the photo with the watermarks of the leaves? Well, if I had not read your advices, that picture would not exist.”

The same passion for the world of plants and two leaves made our paths crossing one another, I was invited to visit a different garden, also made up of light and poetry, and I was fascinated by the beauty of the plants captured in their essence and soul, a pure vision, result of a process that smacks of old and magic:
“I pick flowers, roots, leaves, berries and anything inspiring the garden gives me, and instead of making up an ikebana in a vase, I style them on photo paper, already treated or personally taken care of by me. The composition takes place in the somber and maternal womb of the dark room, where in a press  I stabilize the whole set so that the end result is not (unintentionally and excessively) moved, blurred or inaccurate. The rays of the sun or the soft light of the moon will, once the press will be placed outside, take care of imprinting on the paper trace of the natural elements. “

In the works of Chiara lightness, nature and colors blend in a non-schematic elaboration of the lumen print technique. An alchemical process that plays with exposure times, shapes, textures and colors with a contact printing technique which minimizes human intervention.

“One day, I was in the countryside, I had a book about the aura with me, and I was concentrated on reading. Then looking up from the pages, I got kidnapped by the light passing through some wild cyclamen nearby. I observed for a long time, and in the following days, almost as cosmic correspondence, I found out, through someone special, an ancient technique that even got rid of the tinsel of the camera body, and was inviting to dispose of what belongs to everyone and cannot be possessed, but accepted. The sources were not certain nor well specified, and then I began to make experiments”.
