INFUSO

INFUSION
The infusion is prepared with the tender part of the plant. It is obtained by pouring boiling water over fresh rose hip fruits, previously deprived of seeds and irritating hairs. Cover and let stand for 10-15 minutes, avoid leaving the plant in infusion too long since an excessive maceration leads to deterioration of the active ingredient. Filter before drinking.

DECOTTO

Dolcificate a piacere.

DECOCTION

Pour the whole rose hips fruits directly in boiling water and keep cooking them for about ten minutes, with a lid. Turn off the heat and strain. The decoction is used to extract the active ingredient from the hard parts of the plant.

Vitamin C is sensitive to the boiling water it is therefore recommended, in order to preserve it, to prepare a cold infusion, heating the water up to body temperature (36-37 degrees) and leaving the infusion at rest 6-8 hours, prepare it in the evening and then in the morning filter it and store it in the fridge, if you want,  before drinking it,  you can bring it back  to body temperature.

Typically the dose of preparation is 1 flat spoonful of rose hips berries for 1 cup of water, or a handful in a pint of water to stock it up for the whole day. Sweeten to your taste. For infusions and decoctions, dry the fruits and store them in a dry place in glass containers.

Keep the seeds extracted from rose hips and sow them in January/February, they need to stand in the cold, if you live in warm areas you can keep them in the refrigerator until planting. The Rose hip that will born will retain all the characteristics of the mother plant as it is a botanical species.
